It was another transfer deadline day full of rumour, intrigue and downright nonsense.

Here we take you through the best bits, as seen on social media.

It has now become tradition to start transfer deadline day with an Arsenal-related song courtesy of @Gunnerblog, and this time it was a hilarious take on Arsene Wenger's reluctance to sign a new striker.

Soon people were predicting what the day had in store, with Harry Redknapp unsurprisingly the target of some LOLs.

Then it was time for the real business at hand, and with the Guardian going big on Falcao on its back page, Man City and Arsenal fans had reason to get excited early doors.

However, it quickly became apparent that Falcao had another destination - Old Trafford.

With United jumping ahead of Arsenal in the race for Falcao, Gunners fans were furious to learn that Arsene Wenger was heading off to Rome despite having apparently failed to land a new centre-forward or a centre-back.

Sky Sports News had their team of reporters out in force outside Premier League training grounds across the country.

With one tweeter suggesting a possible application for a brand new Premier League product...

With big money being thrown around in various places, soon talk turned to that Rafa Benitez favourite: net spend.

And stats came through to show that spending in the big five leagues was at an all-time high.

There was a flurry of excitement when Falcao's imminent arrival at Manchester United was all but confirmed.

And soon attention turned to how United might try and fit the Colombia striker into their team...

After a lull in the action, there were a couple of genuine pieces of news to report.

This happened.

And one rather bizarre rumour came out of the woodwork.

But soon focus turned back onto the biggest transfer of deadline day, as speculation continued over Falcao's progress to England.

Back in the Sky Sports News studio, transfer deadline day legend Jim White was making his way tro work.

And Charlie Nicholas showed up while doing his best Ryan Gosling impression.

As tensions became fraught with the hours ticking down, Sky Sports News reporter Gary Cotterill did the kind of thing that he always does.

Out of the blue, there was some rather big news from North London.

But perhaps the biggest shock of the whole day came when Harry Redknapp appeared at QPR's training ground, and DIDN'T conduct an interview through his car window.

Falcao then actually landed in England, to great excitement.

With everyone waiting on the biggest deal of the day, Manchester United did make one more signing.

Meanwhile, on Sky Sports News, this happened:

But then 11pm came and went, with no sign of Falcao or Welbeck completing the two biggest deals of the day. Still, at least we had a nice mental image to end the window on...
