Webb howler overshadows Arsenal win over Liverpool

Arsenal beat Liverpool 2-1 in the fifth round of the FA Cup but the post-match headlines are sure to be dominated by a simply shocking decision by referee Howard Webb.

In the 63rd minute with the score as it finished, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain came in with a thumping challenge on Luis Suarez in the box, long after the ball had gone, but somehow Webb waved away the visitors penalty appeals.

You can see the incident in the GIF below…

Webb seemed to make another error 10 minutes later at the other end when Steven Gerrard should have received a second yellow-card for a tackle on Oxlade-Chamberlain but Webb did not even give a free-kick.

It is not the first time Webb has made unwanted headlines for himself.

He was roundly criticised for the way he refereed the 2010 World Cup final, especially for only giving Nigel De Jong a yellow card for a kick to Xabi Alonso's chest.
