Anyone who has followed Overreaction Theatre this season knows all too well how effectively Twitter gives fools a global stage to air their idiotic views (and, yes, we're part of that vicious cycle).
This nincompoopery reached its high-water mark on Saturday night when a large chunk of Twitter took angry exception to Gabby Logan presenting Match of the Day.
It seems that bantering inanely with ex-pros is man's work, and Logan's contribution - though largely indistinguishable from Gary Lineker's - provoked outrage.
In one sense you feel sorry for those people so desperately insecure that they are scared of 50 per cent of the human race. But in another, more accurate, sense, you just want to slap them with a wet fish. Preferably a girl fish.
Hats off Preben Walle (@Ohpebbles) for doing Overreaction Theatre's work for it and retweeting the Neanderthals' reaction live. Please give him a follow to say thanks.
Here’s a selection of views from those who believe a woman’s place is in the kitchen, and a man’s place is spilling misogynistic garbage onto the internet:
This woman doing #MOTD should be in the kitchen, wtf does she know about football?

You wouldn't have a man presenting loose women, so why is there a woman presenting MOTD? — Dan Hole (@TheDanHole) December 28, 2013
Am I watching a cooking show or MOTD?! Who is this woman?
— OG (@JackOJOG) December 28, 2013
I'm all for equality but this woman doesn't look like she belongs on MOTD — Juan the Sidekick (@bkpstar) December 28, 2013
arrived home to find a woman presenting match of the day. *click*. goodnight. #motd

HOWARD WEBB, CRAP JOKE MAGNET
England’s foremost ref fails to award Liverpool penalty or send off Chelsea’s Samuel Eto’o. Twitter reacts with crushing predictability.

Morning. Are the conspiracy theorists still at it? Was it Jose on the Grassy Knoll faking the moon landings? Is Howard Webb lost in Area 51? — Dan Levene (@BluesChronicle) December 30, 2013
IF ANELKA SCORES I’LL EAT MY QUENELLE
Here’s a story that got slightly less rib-tickling when Nicolas Anelka decided to pay tribute to the French Jim Davidson, but anyway, here goes.
If Anelka scores today i'll shave my head and devote my whole twitter account to him.
Le Sulk scored twice, and the unlucky punter duly made his account an Anelka shrine. No evidence that he’s cut his hair off, though.
