Gareth Bale is set to pick up an extra £2.5 million this summer despite being one of the few Real Madrid stars to miss out on the World Cup finals.

The Wales forward is apparently on £300,000 a week after completing his record £86 million move from Tottenham to Real Madrid last summer, but is set to trouser the extra cash while stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Xabi Alonso are battling it out in Brazil.

Bale is set to use his "vacation" to embark upon a promotional tour of Asia that will earn him the eye-watering sum, according to the Daily Mail.

Bale - who has scored 18 times in 34 outings since arriving at the Bernabeu - will earn £2.5m for spending a week in Indonesia and Singapore that will include appearing at a football festival in Jakara, a charity event and a coaching clinic.

Edwin Sutiono - director of Indonesian company Dua Kelinci who are apparently sponsoring the deal - said in the Daily Mail: "Bale is a world-class player. He has spare time so he can come here. Hopefully he will motivate young Indonesian footballers."
