Spanish newspaper Marca have a reputation of being the propaganda arm of Real Madrid but did they take their Pravda-esque behaviour to a new extreme last night?

The grand occasion was Madrid’s 3-1 friendly defeat to Manchester United in front of a crowd of 109,000 people at the University of Michigan’s ‘Big House’ stadium – a record attendance for a football game in America.

And as you can see from Manchester United's own Twitter account, there were plenty of Red Devils in attendance.

But accusations are flying around that Marca Photoshopped their own pictures and played with the colour contrast to make it appear as though there were in fact more Real Madrid fans in attendance.

As the tweet below claims to show, the red looks to have been bleached out of Marca’s report.

We couldn’t find any trace of the story above on the Marca website, just this short bulletin which appears to have a healthy dose of red.

Perhaps the previous report has been airbrushed out of existence, or maybe it's just an innocent turn of events with the photo marginally changing at some stage of the production process...
