Limited-edition pink driver to be sold

Bubba Watson's all-pink driver

You have to appreciate equipment companies like Ping Golf. Earlier this year when Bubba Watson put the all-pink Ping G20 in play, the equipment giant decided to sweeten the pot a bit to help out Phoenix-area charities, giving them $10,000 upfront and another $300 for every drive Watson hit more than 300 yards with the flashy driver (currently, Watson leads the US PGA Tour in driving distance with an average of 313.1 yards).

It was an impressive gesture on Ping's part. Watson, one of the longest hitters on tour, has helped raise more than $61,000 for local Phoenix charities, so the campaign has certainly been paying dividends.

As well as things have been going, they're about to get even better: Ping announced they'll be releasing Bubba Watson's all-pink driver to the general public, with 5 per cent of all proceeds going to "Bubba Long in Pink. Driven by PING", which is Ping's part of Watson's charity initiatives.

But if you want one of Watson's drivers, you better make a call to your local golf shop to see if they'll have any in stock. Ping's only releasing 5,000 limited-edition version at $430 a pop on June 1, and considering the club manufacturer's website was down earlier today due to demand for the stick, you know they'll go fast.

You may never be able to hit the ball "Bubba-long," but at least you can now look like Watson when you step on the tee.
