  1. 6-1 - AND FEDERER HAS THE MATCH - he wins on his second match point as a weary looking Seppi puts a shot long. The Italian did his best but didn't have the legs today. Federer really has cruised into the final but whoever he meets next will be a much tougher challenge. Djokovic v Nadal is coming next - join us for that.

  2. 5-1 - The drop shot has become a more effective weapon as this match has gone on for Federer and he uses it again to move one game away. A hold to 15.

  3. 4-1 - Seppi looks a beaten man now - a second break from Federer. He is moving the Italian all over the court and Seppi hasn't got the legs to cope. Federer takes the game to 15 with a gem of a pass after he drew Seppi into the net with some nicely sliced backhands.

  4. 3-1 - Some really good stuff from Federer in that last game as he backs up his break with a hold to 30. A perfectly placed volley into the corner being the highlight of the game - it was impressive enough that he even got to the ball let alone the fact that he placed it in an unreturnable spot.

  5. 2-1 - Federer has a second set break now. A couple of poor shots into the net from Seppi bring up break points number nine and 10 but he saves both of them. However, the Italian then double faults and on break point number 11 Federer finally gets his second break of the match. A set and a break up - Federer is on his way back to the final.

  6. 1-1 - Seppi is definitely finding his way into this match. A delightful little drop shot sees him pick up his first break point of the match, and while Federer manages to save the point and go on and win the game - encouraging signs for the Italian.

  7. 0-1 - Another very composed service game to love for Seppi. After all those problems on his serve he has now won nine points in a row on his own serve.

  8. - - Some first set stats - Federer with 18 winners and 15 unforced errors. Seppi's ratio is 11-12.

  9. 6-3 - Federer wins the set with a hold to 30. He is starting to get more first serves in now but to be fair to Seppi - he has upped his game a bit too. He won one lovely point in that game by just guiding a shot past Federer after the Swiss had moved to the net.

  10. 5-3 - EXACTLY what Seppi needed - a service game to love. Chances are he will lost the set here but still that will give him confidence ahead of the next set.

  11. 5-2 - Yet again Federer wraps up a very quick hold of serve to move just one game away. Have we got another marathon game from Seppi to look forward to now? He must be knackered already.

  12. 4-2 - Seppi holds after another marathon service game. More break points were saved - he has now saved seven out of eight but he has had to play 44 points on his own serve already while Federer has played just 16.

  13. 4-1 - Seppi has another little sniff as he gets to 30-30 after some poor Federer serving but again Federer is able to close out the game. Federer is not at the top of his game (only 31% of first serves in) but he is doing more enough.

  14. 3-1 - And now Federer has a break - he leaves a shot short and Federer just powers a forehand down the line. This really is going to be a tough day for the Italian you feel.

  15. 2-1 - But then without any trouble at all Federer quickly polishes off a service game to put the pressure right back on Seppi.

  16. 1-1 - Really gutsy first service game from Seppi. He saves FOUR BREAK POINTS before finally winning the game with a delightful little drop shot. Seppi went into more attacking mode on the break points and it seemed to serve him well.

  17. 1-0 - Federer with a couple of poor shots into the net in his opening game but he still holds to 30 without too much fuss. Seppi is going to have to show a bit more if he is to trouble the world number one today - a conservative game-plan will see him swallowed up.

  18. 0-0 - Federer serving in this opening game.

  19. - - A big question for Seppi will be just how tired he is after yesterday's marathon quarter-final with Nicolas Kiefer. That win took three hours 14 minutes. Federer meanwhile, had a bye in the first round and has still yet to lost a set this week.

  20. - - Both players on court just warming up now so we will be underway very soon.

  21. - - After this match though comes the big one. Rafael Nadal v Novak Djokovic with the winner GUARANTEED to be world number two next week.

  22. - - Hello tennis fans and welcome to this first Hamburg Masters semi-final between Roger Federer and surprise package Andreas Seppi. The two players met for the only time in Monte Carlo last year with Federer only winning after two tie-breaks.
