    • 80' Italy now in Scots half but not finding the gaps. Last play from the Azzurri, Troncon kicks and Parks drags ball into touch. Scotland are in the quarter-finals! Not a great game but Scotland did just about enough to earn this one. Next up a quarter-final likely to be against either Argentina and Ireland. What a prize. Thanks for joining us.
    • 79' Now Italy run it. Is it going to be too late? Scots defence is good and so far they Italians are getting nowhere.
    • 78' Italy need to show more ambition and take a gamble otherwise they're going to lose this one. Scots win lineout but Hines runs into White accidentally and hand Italy a scrum down 15m in their own half.
    • 75' Del Fava wins lineout and Italy drive. Scots concede penalty for coming in at the side and Bortolussi has a difficult chance to add three points. It's on the limit of his range, slightly right of the posts and 10m inside Scots half. But he's put it wide!
    • 74' Scots throw not straight and Italy awarded scrum. Scots defence holds firm and Pez puts up an up and under but it's too long and Southwell takes it comfortably and finds touch in Italy half.
    • 72' Italy keep ball tight and force a lineout just outside Scots 22m line. But Taylor pinches the throw and allows Parks to kick up field. Bortolussi returns the favour and finds touch midway between halfway and Scots 22m line.
    • 69' Neither side taking this game by the neck and it looks like it is going to go down to the wire. Who can hold their nerve best and survive the pressure moments?
    • 67' Good passage of interpassing, involving Henderson and Lamont, moves Scots near to Italy 22. But ball is spilled and Italy awarded a scrum.
    • 65' Pez misses touch and Parks responds with interest! Superb kick from the Scots stand off. Pez is rolling around like a blouse after a late nudge by Taylor but the ref is having none of it.
    • 62' Scots drag down an Italian rolling maul and penalty to Italy as ref warns Murray. Bortlolussi on target and Italy now right back in this at 18-16.
    • 60' Hamilton takes another safe catch at lineout in Scots 22 and allows Park to clear the pressure.
    • 55' Bortolussi makes it 18-13. Scots now down to 10 men for 10 minutes. Vital period of the game this for the Scots!
    • 54' Italy driving at Scots defence on the left side now, Ongaro standing out as Hines puts in a high tackle on Masi and gets a sin-binning for his troubles.
    • 52' High ball from Parks, Masi knocks on and Italian players collect the ball in front of him and concede another penalty. Paterson cool as a cucumber makes it 18-10. Another superb kick from the wing.
    • 50' Italy pressing now but Scots almost intercept and italy caught offside, allowing Scots to clear the pressure.
    • 47' Italy offside from kick off and Scots awarded another penalty for Parks to clear to touch in Italy half. Italy's indiscipline is costing them dear tonight and they must cut out the penalties if they want to win this one.
    • 45' Southwell takes mark and sends huge kick into Italy half. Ball not quite out but Robertson makes a hash of catching it and Scots win lineout. Scots drive up through the middle and Italy concede penalty right in front of their posts for diving over a ruck. Easy kick for Paterson and Scots lead 15-10.
    • 44' Decent high ball by Parks but even better take by Bortolussi.
    • 42' Penalty to Italy for Scots players going straight to ground at the breakdown and not staying on their feet. Long penalty chance for Bortolussi but again it's a tad short!
    • 41' Welcome back and Pez gets the game restarted for Italy. Scots forwards miss the kick and Blair is bundled into touch. Lineout Italy on Scots 22 but the ball is stolen and cleared into italy half by Parks.
    • 40' Good work from Scots forwards and Park goes for a very long drop goal attempt. But it's charged down and ref blows for half-time. It's very close but Scots have a narrow lead at 12-10. This one could go either way!
    • 39' Another fine kick from Parks pushes Italy back into their own half. They win lineout and clear to the halfway line.
    • 34' Another penalty to Scotland for Italy pulling jersey off the ball and Paterson again on target to give Scots the lead at 12-10.
    • 32' High tackle by Troncon on Parks earns Scotland penalty 10m inside Italy half. Paterson on target as ever and cuts Italy's lead to 10-9.
    • 30' Bortolussi chips through but it's out on the full and Scots get lineout back near halfway line. Scots win their throw and drive into italy half.
    • 27' Scots handle on the floor and ref awards penalty to Italy on the halfway line. Difficult chance for Bortolussi and the ball is just wide. Let off for Scotland who have been unable to get much possession in the first half hour!
    • 26' Now it's Pez's turn to find a superb touch as he rolls the ball into the Scotland 22m area.
    • 25' Rory Lamont is led off the pitch by Scots team doctor and replaced by Hugo Southwell.
    • 25' Parks finds superb touch 10m from Italy try line. Good few minutes for the number 10.
    • 24' Ref has just missed a blatant trip by Mirco Bergamasco on Parks, who had made a decent break!! Bergamsco will be cited, and likely banned for two games, but the ref and touch judge should have spotted it!
    • 23' Pez goes for drop goal but he's forced to use his right foot and kick sails wide. Good pressure from Scots back row.
    • 21' Italt win lineout on Scots 22m line but they are accidentally off side at the drive and Scots get scrum down. Blair misses touch and Bortolussi grubbers the ball back into Scots 22m area and Scots forced into touch.
    • 20' Italy force turn over and Troncon chips down the blindside. Masi chases and hits Rory Lamont hard as he kicks the ball out on the full. Lamont is down, and Masi, and it does not look too good for the full-back. Masi is up and now too Lamont thankfully. Tough game rugby!
    • 19' Bergamasco is back on. Italy scored 10 points in his absence - what can they do with the live wire flanker back on?
    • 17' Penalty to Italy for Scots entering maul from the wrong side. Bortolussi nails a superb penalty from all of 50m. 10-6 Italy.
    • 15' Fabulous break by Parisse, the number eight motoring down the right touchline into Scotland's half. Great athlete the Italy loose forward!
    • 14' Bortolussi adds the conversion to make it 7-6.
    • 12' Mirco Bergamasco knocks on and Scots win reprieve and scrum just outside their 22. But Italy pinch the ball from Scots drive, Pez puts up a high ball, Lamont misses it and Troncon dives over! 6-5.
    • 11' Pez launches a towering up and under, Rory lamont knocks on and Italy earn scrum on Scots 22m line.
    • 6' Italy restart goes out on the full and Scots win scrum down on halfway line. Parks produces superb kick into the corner and Italy make a mess of the lineout. Scotland are clear but Mauro Bergamasco tackles Taylor without the ball! Off he goes for 10 minutes!
    • 4' Scotland break from defence and Blair kicks up field. Scots chaser Dewey pressures Bergamasco and the Azzurri concede another penalty. Paterson on target yet again from the right touchline and Scotland lead 6-0. Grerat start.
    • 2' Paterson makes no mistake and Scotland take a 3-0 lead. Nice kick. That will settle his nerves and lift Scots confidence even further.
    • 1' Good start for Scotland as they pressure Italy from the kick off and earn a scrum down. Italy concede penalty and Paterson has the chance to put them ahead.
    • 1' Dan Parks starts the game for Scotland. Will this one be as exciting as the game between Wales and Fiji?
    • - It is tipping down with rain in St-Etienne so don't expect a feast of running rugby. Set pieces and minimum errors will be vital this evening.
    • - Italy beat Scotland last time they played earlier this year in the Six Nations but go into the game without their inspirational skipper Marco Bortolami. But like Scotland, the Azzurri will have been targeting this game since the draw was made two years ago and will be confident of another win.
    • - Scotland have never not reached the knock-out stages of the World Cup and are going into the game with a full-strength side. Their coach Frank Hadden has found room for both Chris Paterson and Dan Parks in his side, naming the former on the wing and the latter at stand-off.
    • - Good evening and welcome to Eurosport's online coverage of the Pool C showdown between Scotland and Italy. A winner-takes-all clash with a spot in the quarter-finals at stake.
