World Football - North Korean forward heads to South Korea

South Korean club Suwon Samsung Bluewings have recruited a North Korean striker who featured for the underdog nation at the 2010 World Cup.

Jong Tae-Se is a 27-year-old striker who will leave 2.Bundesliga side Cologne for €300,000 to play in the South Korean K-League with the Bluewings.

Jong holds a North Korean passport despite being born and raised in Japan.

The transfer is the culmination of several months of negotiations, according to Bluewings official Lee Ho-seung.

Jong began his pro career with Japan side Kawasaki Frontale in 2006 before moving to Germany four years later to play for VfL Bochum and then Cologne.
