Wilson secured his place on the number one spot on the grid with four minutes left of the session, and even last lap dashes from Seeley and Appleyard Macadam Doodson’s Graeme Gowland were not enough to demote the Boston lad from pole.
Throughout the qualifying session the provisional front row changed a number of times. First it was Seeley who looked like he would clinch pole, then MarTrain’s Stuart Easton clocked a 1’29.796 to propel him to the top of the timesheets.
Then veteran racer, Smiths Triumph’s Glen Richards joined the party and with ten minutes to go went quickest with a 1'29.649, but seconds later Seeley went one tenth of a second faster to grab provisional pole.
But when the chequered flag appeared Wilson had already cemented his place on pole with a 1’28.962, followed by a solid performance by Gowland who set his best lap of 1’29.266. Seeley ended the session rounding off the front row.
Easton will start the race from row two, after he could not improve on his 1’29.406 lap, and is joined by Smith Triumph’s Billy Connell and Oxford TAG Triumph’s Richard Cooper. Samsung Honda’s Jason O’Halloran, Richards and Profile Racing’s Luke Stapleford complete row three.
There were some crashes, ANR Performance rider Craig Neve fell at Charles, then seconds later Tyco Suzuki’s Taylor Mackenzie crashed in the same place, but fortunately both riders were unhurt.
