Superbike - Phillip Island gets revamp

MotoGP and World Superbike circuit Phillip Island is undergoing a major refurbishment ahead of the start of next season at a cost of $3million.

The iconic Victorian track near Melbourne will be resurfaced to make it one of the smoothest and fastest in the world.

It is the first time in 14 years that work has been done at Phillip Island and Andrew Fox of owners Linfox Property Group believes the two-day facelift will result in a circuit "as smooth as a baby's bum".

"There's nothing better than having the best race track in the world and the drivers and riders racing here with such excitement on their faces," said Fox.

The new track will be ready in time to welcome WSBK riders in February for their final pre-season testing session and the opening round of the new campaign on 24th of the same month.
