The Frenchman fell heavily on his left elbow on the opening day of testing in the Victorian outpost, aggravating a pre-existing injury.
The team said: "The accident left him with a large and deep hole in his arm; and after a thorough medical examination at the track, it was decided that a small operation was needed to close the wound."
The non-emergency procedure will be undertaken on Friday in Melbourne but Cluzel expects to rejoin the team later that day.
He should also be fit enough to take part in the official two-day World Superbike test that starts on Monday.
