Sierra Nevada in Spain was the sole bidder for the freestyle skiing and snowboard world championships while Kulm in Austria was awarded the ski flying world championships.
The decision was made by the FIS council in a vote at the International Ski Congress in Kangwonland, South Korea.
St Moritz was bidding for the championships against Are in Sweden and the Italian resort of Cortina d'Ampezzo, which withdrew shortly before the ballot.
The Swiss resort last hosted the world championships in 2003.
