    Snooker - White and Wattana lose opening China qualifiers

    Veterans Jimmy White and James Wattana crashed out as qualifying for the China Open continued in Sheffield.

    White and Wattana were top-16 stalwarts in the 1990s but after entering the tournament at the second preliminary round, were immediately knocked out by players who had already won once to get that far.

    Multiple former World Championship finalist White was thumped 5-1 by Robbie Williams, while London-born Norwegian Kurt Maflin defeated Wattana by the same score.

    Tony Drago edged out fellow veteran Alan McManus

    The qualifying rounds of the 2013 China Open run from Wednesday to Saturday, with the 16 qualifiers going through to the final stages in Beijing, to be held from March 25 to 31.
