The 55-year-old Davis, winner of six world championships during the 1980s, continued a fine run of recent form with the four-frame victory over world number 35 Burnett, sealing the victory with a majestic 141 century break.
Belgian prodigy Brecel, who at the age of 17 is young enough to be Davis’s grandson, took the scalp of another English former Crucible kingpin when he comprehensively defeated Peter Ebdon 6-1.
Joining the duo in the main draw from the morning session of final qualifiers was Lisowski, the 21-year-old who recorded his first career 147 in the previous round, after a 6-4 win over Joe Perry.
Mark Joyce and Cao Yupeng also upset the rankings to defeat Marcus Campbell and Jamie Cope respectively 6-4.
Tom Ford hit a 133 on his way to a 6-1 romp over Yu Delu in the evening session, although the Chinese managed a 129 of his own to claim his only frame in the one-sided match-up.
Indeed, the late action was not short of big breaks, with Marco Fu making a 132 and a 123 in his 6-2 win over Rod Lawler while Ryan Day managed an impressive 120 as he beat Matthew Selt 6-3.
Rounding off the evening session, Liang Wenbo crushed Andrew Higginson in a 6-0 whitewash while former world champion Ken Doherty had his hopes ended by Michael White, who won 6-3.
