Ski Jumping - World champion Hendrickson wins in Trondheim

Sarah Hendrickson claimed victory in the first ski jumping World Cup event since she was crowned world champion, ending rival Sara Takanashi's run of four straight wins on the circuit in the process.

The 18-year-old took her first World Championship title ahead of Takanashi in Val di Fiemme last month, the Japanese teenager being crowned World Cup champion shortly beforehand.

And, with the World Cup returning for the final two rounds of the season first in Trondheim and then Oslo, Hendrickson picked up where she left off to end Takanashi's four-event unbeaten run on the circuit.

Hendrickson placed first after round one despite Takanashi jumping a hill record of 105m with the American earning more style points to collect 140.4 points to her rival's 139.8.

She then bettered Takanashi second time out and again was awarded more style points with her leap of 101m giving her 142.6 points for an overall winning total of 283.0.

Takanashi leapt 100m but was awarded just 135.1 for 274.9 overall and second place with Austrian Jacqueline Seifriedsberger moving up to third with 271.2 in total.
