Pepe Mel's team were well worth their point having lost 4-3 to Aston Villa in midweek, but Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers will rue the manner in which his side managed to squander their match-winning position.
24' - STURRIDGE OPENER: Sturridge tucks the ball into the net from close range. Brilliant cross from Suarez. Lovely move from the visitors.
30' - SCRAMBLE IN THE BAGGIES BOX: Coutinho with the corner. Missed by Olsson, but Sturridge and Suarez can't force the loose ball over the line. Foster dives on it to make sure there is no damage done.
54' - MIGNOLET STOP: Brilliant stop by Mignolet to deny McAuley with a powerful header. A quite magnificent reaction stop. Not sure how he got there.
57' - FOSTER HEROICS: Superb save by Foster to make the block from the Suarez volley. That could easily have been 2-0. So close to another Suarez special.
67' - TOURE BLUNDER: Anichebe drives the ball low beyond Mignolet. A disaster for Toure who just passed the ball straight to the opposing player.
West Brom’s 23 points is 11 points fewer than they had at this stage last season. Their 11 draws so far this season matches their record number of draws after 24 top flight matches; they also had 11 in the 1957/58 season.
Liverpool’s 47 points after 24 Premier League matches is their second best ever in the Premier League; their best at this stage is 51 in 08/09.
Liverpool extend their unbeaten run to five PL matches; they are yet to lose in 2014. West Brom have now only won one of their last 15 in all competitions.
These two draw for the first time ever in the Premier League and for the first time in the top flight since 6 October 1984 (18 matches).
TALKING POINT: Are West Brom any better under Pepe Mel? Bit early to say, but they look to be heading in the right direction if they can avoid throwing in results like a 4-3 defeat to Aston Villa. Much more solid. Were worth their point here.
MAN OF THE MATCH
Raheem Sterling (Liverpool): Seems to be rediscovering some of his very best form. Always lively throughout the match. West Brom were always aware of his presence.
