Adam Dixon put England in front midway through the first-half finishing off Henry Weir's good work and despite having chances to extend their advantage that's how it remained at half-time.
Poland however responded in the second-half and drew level after executing a penalty corner to perfection with Tomasz Gorny firing home from the top of the circle through the English defence.
That proved to be the wake-up call England needed though as David Condon grabbed his first senior goal for his county and followed it up with his second shortly afterwards to give his side a two-goal cushion.
Their opponents weren't going to go down without a fight and scored another with 13 minutes remaining to set up a tense finish.
But Alastair Brogdon and Tom Carson both scored in the final five minutes to make the score-line seem comfortable in the end and give England the three points they were looking for.
