Golf - Uribe claims Women's Australian Open lead

Colombian Mariajo Uribe took the halfway lead at the LPGA Tour's season-opening Women's Australian Open after a second round 67 at Royal Canberra.

She shot a six-under round to move to 15-under and a one-stroke lead over South Korea's Jiyai Shin and overnight leader Lydia Ko.

South Korean-born New Zealander Ko, who won the New Zealand Open last week, followed an opening 63 with a 69 while British Open champion Jiyai Shin had eight birdies in a 67.

Australia's Kristie Smith was fourth, five strokes off the lead after a 68, while Beatriz Recari was a shot further back after a 69.

Ko was grouped with world number one Yani Tseng, who is eight shots off the lead after a 71, and Michelle Wie who will miss the cut at one over.

The 22-year-old Uribe, ranked 125th in the world, is chasing her first LPGA title.
