Although Van Persie's presence has limited the England man's starting opportunities this season, he is still finding his new team-mate an inspiration.
And, against Liverpool last weekend, Welbeck proved he could operate in tandem with Van Persie, delivering a man-of-the-match display even though it was his strike partner who found the net for the 21st time this season.
With Wayne Rooney fit again, Welbeck may struggle to retain his place at Tottenham on Sunday.
However, speaking at a Q&A session at Old Trafford to promote United's new global partnership with Japanese paint manufacturer Kansai, the 22-year-old highlighted how much he is benefiting from Van Persie's presence.
"Robin is a world-class striker and has definitely added something to our team," said Welbeck.
"It is not just his goalscoring, it is his all-round play.
"He brings others into the game very well and holds the ball up as well.
"As you watch him more closely, you get to see how good he is.
"It is great to be playing in the same team as him and I do learn from him as well."
