The Addicks picked up their first win of the season against Leicester last weekend and followed that up with Saturday's 1-1 draw at Watford.
They now face a long trip to Huddersfield on Tuesday night, followed by a lunchtime derby with Millwall four days later.
"The last couple of results have got us four points but we had an indifferent start," said Powell.
"We're building on it now and that's the important thing.
"The players are really clear on what we want to do and we've changed one or two things and the squad have taken to it. It's got us four points so far and we'll be looking to carry on in the same vein.
"It's hard in the Championship because there's another game on Tuesday. So now we have to recover and travel and then we've got a big local derby on Saturday so it's a tough week.
"You really have to call on your reserves of energy and mentally you have to be right and hopefully we'll get through it with a really good points return."
