Edwards, 34, who has only missed one single game this season, is struggling with a groin injury sustained in Saturday's 1-0 victory over Leicester.
Boss Mick McCarthy told the club's official website: "He has been excellent for us but I don't want to be in a situation where we play him in one game and he misses the next three or four.
"He's shown a remarkable level of fitness, especially given his age but he's got some inflammation in the groin area and is a doubt."
On-loan striker David McGoldrick bagged the late winner against Leicester but he is ineligible for the fixture against his parent club.
