"I said to the players that this was going to be the toughest game in the last few weeks," said Burnett.
"We played reasonably well but I knew it would be a tight game. It's obvious, but goals change games and the first gave us a lift and once we went 2-0 up we went into cruise control.
"I never thought we would lose, although the last three or four minutes weren't good for my heart when they got one back."
Burnett added: "We have a fantastic attacking threat and we capitalised twice on the counter attack. I thought Billy Bingham was excellent for us, he has fantastic ability and he has come in and staked a claim for a place.
"We have also brought in Chris Dixon and he chased us up the M1 as he only got clearance after we had set off. But he came on and showed he will be an attacking threat. I am delighted."
