The Clarets have not won against their fierce rivals since 'Video Killed The Radio Star' was at number one in the charts back in 1979, yet their long wait for victory appeared to be coming to an end courtesy of substitute Junior Stanislas's glorious 25-yard strike in the 76th minute.
Bowyer said: "When we go 1-0 down with 10 minutes to go, and the average age of the team was 22, you do wonder and question how they're going to react.
"But, in this environment, we've got nothing but praise for them because they came back with a fantastic attitude and spirit, and in my opinion fully deserved the equaliser."
The visitors were indebted to Lee Williamson's red card for a professional foul on Danny Ings when the Burnley forward had just the goalkeeper to beat in stoppage time.
Williamson had only been on the pitch a matter of minutes and Rovers boss Bowyer had "no qualms" over the dismissal.
