Victory saw Adams' side stretched their unbeaten run in 2013 to eight games in a game they dominated after a slow start. Ivan Sproule scored his fifth goal in as many starts to give County the lead in the 11 minutes from the break.
Second-half goals from Richard Brittain and Iain Vigurs completed a fine display after the break from the home side.
Adams said: "After the first goal it (winning) was probably never in doubt. We should have probably scored a few more but I'm happy with another clean sheet. It was a terrific performance against a side who are trying to get into second position after finishing third last year.
"I thought Motherwell didn't really trouble us to any respect throughout the 90 minutes.
"I watched them on Tuesday night and they had a lot of play against Dundee United but we have a lot of good players in our side. We coped well with (Michael) Higdon, who has been a good signing for them.
"When we keep him quiet and Henrik Ojamaa quiet we're doing all right."
His opposite number Stuart McCall felt it was his side's worst performance in some time, and he said: "Fortunately I haven't had to talk about performances like that in recent months.
"In fact, I can't remember the last performance that was as limp.
"Ross County wanted it more. They played the condition of the pitch better than we did and just all over the park they were hungrier, that's not what you want to say as a manager."
