    Arsenal's 2-0 win over Montpellier ensured the Gunners' progress from Group B, Jack Wilshere netting his first goal in two years.

    Schalke 1-0 Olympiacos

    Schalke's 1-0 defeat of Olympiacos saw the Bundesliga side join City in the knock-out stage.

    Group C

    Anderlecht 1-3 AC Milan

    Seven-times champions AC Milan put their Serie A problems behind them as Stephan El Shaarawy, Philippe Mexes and Alexandre Pato scored in the second half to give them a 3-1 win at Anderlecht.

    Zenit St. Petersburg 2-2 Málaga

    Malaga had already qualified and guaranteed top spot with a 2-2 draw at Zenit St Petersburg in the night's early kick-off.

    Group D

    Manchester City 1-1 Real Madrid

    Nine-time champions Real Madrid went through with a 1-1 draw at Manchester City, who fell at the group stage for the second season in a row.

    Ajax 1-4 Borussia Dortmund

    Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund gave the evening's most impressive display as they trounced four-times European champions Ajax 4-1 away.
