Preston light heavyweight Matty Clarkson (11-1-2) had an early night against Castleford's Jamie Kelly (6-1-1) on Coldwell Boxing's 'Real Deal' card. Central area champion Clarkson looked a little out of shape, but pressed the action in the first and just as Kelly had started to return fire, Clarkson turned in with a body shot to put Kelly down and out at 2.17 seconds.
Barrow-in-Furness middleweight Liam Conroy (5-1) was put on the canvas twice in the second round by Welshman Gary Cooper (3-12), but staged a gutsy recovery and boxed his way through the remainder to record a narrow 57-56 win on John Latham's card.
Gorton super featherweight Ryan Doyle (7-0) cruised through his first six rounder against hardy Latvian Pavels Senkovs (2-63-5). Doyle started with a stiff, powerful jab and looked like he meant business throughout, planting several body shots which kept Senkovs quiet. He couldn't quite force the stoppage despite turning it on in the final minute. Good performance from Doyle against a shopworn but tough Senkovs. 60-54 for Doyle.
Wythenshawe's 'Jimmy' Kilrain Kelly (8-0) was taken the distance (as are most) by Brummie Dee Mitchell (9-42-1) but looked good in taking every round and maintaining his unbeaten slate. A disappointing start to the professional career of Hyde cruiserweight debutant Danny Benson though, who was stopped halfway through the first round by Weston-super-Mare's Tommy Gifford (1-1). Latham waved it off at 1.30.
Macclesfield's Liam Hanrahan (5-0) notched up a four round points win over Bulgarian Valentin Marinov (5-4-1, as did Stoke-on-Trent middleweight Marcus Le Doux (2-0) over Trowbridge's Dan Blackwell (3-22).
