The 24-year-old claimed just the solitary title at the World Championships in Nove Mesto in the individual having to settle for second best in the sprint, pursuit, men's relay and mixed relay.
That tale continued in the first of three events in Oslo as Tarjei Boe beat Fourcade to victory in the sprint by just a tenth of a second however the French World Cup leader got his own back in the pursuit.
The win was never in doubt as Fourcade led from start to finish, only very briefly being overtaken by Boe at the 1.8km mark, with two misses in the range for a winning time of 33:48.2minutes.
Boe was a constant second throughout finishing 27.7seconds behind in second while Alexandr Loginov's charge after the halfway mark saw him claim bronze 35.5 behind World Cup leader Fourcade in total.
