  4. 0' LORENZO WINS HIS MAIDEN GRAND PRIX!!!!

  5. 1' The last lap, with the podium of Lorenzo, Pedrosa and Rossi looking nailed on.

  6. 2' BUT DE PUNIET SLIDES OUT, TRYING TO LEAN OVER TOO FAR!!!

  7. 2' De Puniet and Toseland battling wheel to wheel, the former coming out on top after a touch. James somehow manages to keep the bike upright on a corner and is still motoring along...

  8. 3' Lorenzo still steady. What a story this is - equivalent to Lewis Hamilton's impact in Formula One last season.

  9. 4' Lorenzo pulling away from Pedrosa slightly now. About .1 of a second at every split.

  10. 5' Rossi well off Pedrosa's pace, about five seconds. The battle is between the front two with another five seconds between Edwards and Rossi too.

  11. 6' Frenchman De Puniet not far behind Toseland too, in eighth. He may make a move on the Sheffield lad soon...

  12. 8' Hopkins, now fifth, well clear of Stoner - about seven seconds. We are into the final crucial laps of this race.

  13. 9' Toseland right up the backside of Stoner after the Australian rider passes him.

  14. 10' 1.3 seconds the gap between Lorenzo, seeking a first victory, and Pedrosa who is now second ahead of Rossi! The Italian has tyre trouble.

  15. 11' Hayden also crashes out!!! That moves Brit Toseland up to sixth, perhaps another good finish in prospect for him!!!

  16. 13' The reason: Dovizioso slides off and out of this Grand Prix from fourth!!

  17. 14' Toseland up into eighth as Vermeulen drops back... and make that seventh!!!

  18. 16' And Lorenzo goes past Rossi for first place!!! That was a tight pass - and we have a fascinating battle at the head of the field!

  19. 17' Lorenzo puts a move on Pedrosa to go second again!!! Hopkins drops back to seventh.

  20. 18' The weather is holding off thankfully.

  21. 19' Pedrosa moves on the inside of Lorenzo to take second!!! Rossi is just ahead of the Spanish riders.

  25. 26' Rossi back into first position ahead of team-mate Lorenzo. He loves this track.

  26. 27' Andrea Dovizioso up into fourth from his starting position of seventh!!! Pedrosa third, John Hopkins fifth and Toseland's team-mate Edwards sixth.

  27. 28' James Toseland is down in 10th as the stewards declare it a dry race.

  28. 28' Off we go at Estoril!!! Lorenzo and Rossi exchanging positions, but it is the Spaniard that comes through in first!

  29. - Loris Capirossi is on the wrong spot on the grid!!! He shifts back for Casey Stoner!

  30. - The warm-up lap is underway and here they come now to its end... no indication of putting the race back.

  31. - The rain has held off since the 250s, but now it starts up again!!! Just when they don't need it... and there are dark clouds coming over...

  32. - Jorge Lorenzo on a third pole out of three this season, not bad for a rookie! The Spaniard is alongside countryman Dani Pedrosa, Italian legend Valentino Rossi and 2006 world champion Nicky Hayden.

  33. - The teams and riders out on the grid ahead of the MotoGP race here at Estoril.
