Live Commentary
- Join us again at 8am UK time for the MotoGP race, which promises to be an absolute belter in testing conditions!
21/21
Mika Kallio wins!! Aoyama takes second and, cruelly, Takahashi suffers a mechanical problem and loses third place! He slips to seventh behind Pasini, who sneaks onto the podium.
20/21 Kallio is searching out wet track to preserve his tyres, but he still sets a fastest lap of 2:15.8.
19/21 Meanwhile Pasini is all over the back of Simoncelli and will surely take fourth before long.
18/21 Fastest lap of the race for Kallio - track conditions improving all the time here. The Finn has this race all but won.
17/21 Takahashi sets the fastest lap of the race and is closing on his Japanese compatriot Aoyama in second.
15/21 Kallio is now 1.8 seconds ahead of Aoyama, with Takahashi and Simoncelli a further 2.5 seconds adrift.
14/21 Barbera continues to go backwards. Mattia Pasini is in front of him and the Spaniard is now in sixth.
12/21 Hiroshi Aoyama is up to second with Simoncelli third, and Hector Barbera has slipped all the way back to fifth behind Yukio Takahashi. These conditions are very tough on tyres and you wonder if the Spaniard is going to continue going backwards.
11/21 The track continues to dry and the times get faster, but that Bautista spill shows you how treacherous it is. The former leader is up to 13th on a massively beaten-up Aprilia.
10/21 Bautista out!! The leader slides off at the end of the start/finish straight and that puts Mika Kallio in the lead ahead of Hector Barbera!! Alvaro Bautista gets back on the track but the best he can hope for is a low points finish.
8/21 1-Bautista, 2-Barbera, 3-Kallio, 4-Simoncelli, 5-Aoyama, 6-Takahashi, 7-Pasini, 8-Wilairot, 9-Faubel, 10-Espargaro. Less than two seconds cover the top five.
7/21 Mika Kallio sets the fastest lap - the Finn charging in third place.
6/21 That incident - Simon's bike expired and Debon fell off while looking at him!
5/21 Julian Simon, Alex Debon and Thomas Luthi have all been involved in some kind of coming-together. Luthi and Simon are definitely out - not sure about Debon.
4/21 Lukas Pesek is a goner - his bike has gone kaput. Laverty is back on the track and already up to 16th. A points finish far from out of the question.
3/21 Bautista, Barbera and Simoncelli go three abreast... Barbera overcooks it and Bautista sneaks into the lead.
2/21 Alex Simoncelli has just snuck into the lead wioth Barbera right on top of his exhaust. Sadly, Eugene Laverty was the third man involved in that incident last lap - a rotten morning for the Brits so far.
1/21 Three go down later on the first lap including Karel Abraham and Alex Baldolini...
1/21
GOOOO!!! It's an absolute crowd scene into the first corner but somehow everybody gets around in one piece.

It's 250cc time, and the track at Shanghai would just appear to be drying a little. Alvaro Bautista is your polesitter for this one from Hector Barbera, Mika Kallion and Julian Simon.
