Live Commentary

  1. - Great stuff from Simoncelli, who picked Baustista's pocket at his only opportunity. We're onto the big boys now, in the 500cc class, thanks for joining me.

  2. 0/23 SIMONCELLI WINS IT!!! WHAT A FINISH TO THE RACE!!! Bautista was faultless until the very last section of the race, when he let the Italian through on the inside. Barbera is third, with Debon in fourth.

  3. 1/23 Bautista makes a mistake!!! And Simoncelli is through into the lead!!!

  4. 1/23 LAST LAP!!! And Baustista has the advantage. Can Simoncelli catch him!!

  5. 3/23 Baustista and Simoncelli are now clear out in front. It'll be one of these two now, unless something silly happens...like both crash out.

  6. 5/23 Kallio, the championship leader, is OUT!!!! It looks like a technical fault. What a disappointment for the Finn!!!

  7. 7/23 Still as we were. There's a sense of action about to happen here...a stand-off if you will. The leading three are biding their time.

  8. 9/23 The gap between the leading three and Debon is now eight seconds. Sioncelli is closing the gap on Bautista - down to under 0.1 now.

  9. 11/23 Bautista is still out in front, 0.2 ahead of Simoncelli, with Bautista in third and Debon a massive seven seconds back with the rest of the riders.

  10. 13/23 Barbera sets a new fastest lap, and the leading trio are clear in Spain. Debon is 6.413 behind Barbera in fourth.

  11. 15/23 Bautista leads from Simoncelli, with a margin of a little over 0.1 between the pair. Barbera is poised in third.

  12. 16/20 Karel Abraham goes off his bike for the second time this weekend - clipping fellow Czech Lukas Pesak on his way to the gravel.

  13. 17/20 Hector Barbera is playing a coy game here. He's lapped the fastest, but appears to be holding back and waiting for the chance to strike from third.

  14. 19/23 De Bon is in fourth, but only for a brief moment, as Mika Kallio comes through to rob him.

  15. 20/23 Russel Gomez is going to be penalised for taking a jump-start. He'll have to do a ride-through lap at some stage in the next three laps.

  16. 21/23 Bautista is not having any of it. He absolutely burns him on the home straight to regain the lead. Alex Debon is third.

  17. 22/23 Marco Simoncelli takes the lead, with a cheeky move up the inside.

  18. 23/23 CRASH!!! Roberto Locatelli and Yuki Takahashi collide!! Locatelli is out of the race, but Takahashi recovers to get back amongst it.

  19. 23/23 AND THEY'RE OFF!! Alvaro Bautista holds his lead from pole with a good early burst.

  20. - Riders are on the grid, and we're almost ready for the off. The warm-up lap is under way, with the track dry and fast - perfect.

  21. - Good afternoon and welcome to our LIVE!! coverage of the Catalan MotoGP. Mike Di Meglio took the 125cc race, but who'll follow him in the 250s. Stay right here to find out.
