  1. 90' So, there it is! Massa is welcomed back into the Ferrari garage as fastest in the first free practice session! His team-mate Raikkonen finishes slowest, while the two McLarens post the second and third fastest times.

  2. 86' Massa keeps going quicker and quicker... 1:27.323 is his latest time.

  3. 85' Kubica's BMW team are checking something... his car is up on stands, but BMW are being cagey about the exact nature of the problem.

  4. 81' Raikkonen won't be coming out again after all... he's having a gear box problem apparently... worrying for Ferrari.

  5. 80' Just ten minutes remaining this session.

  6. 77' Raikkonen's Ferrari has tyre warmers on now... he'll be back out before the end of the session.

  7. 76' Alonso back out onto the track again as Hamilton and Kovalainen head in.

  8. 74' Hamitlon through the final three turns and over the line... 1:28.482 and still fourth fastest!

  9. 72' Jano Trulli on the Toyota team radio: "Good to start with but then I lost a bit of grip."

  10. 71' There seems to be a minor problem with Raikkonen's Ferrari... there's a host of mechanics standing around it in the garage...

  11. 66' Kovalainen back on the track now... let's see what the McLaren man can do now as the track improves...

  13. 61' Just over an hour of the first free practice session gone... Massa is now flying - he's just gone clear of Kovalainen!

  14. 55' Ferrari are struggling so far... just one decent lap from Raikkonen up until now. McLaren going slightly better.

  15. 54' Timo Glock puts in a decent lap and goes second fastest... Hamilton out on the track.

  16. 49' Kovalainen betters his own best time and now the one to beat is 1:28.283...

  17. 45' Kovalainen puts in the fastest lap of the day so far at 1:29.784!

  18. 41' 1:33.689 for the first lap of the day from Bourdais! We're going to see some action after all!

  19. 38' WE HAVE A CAR! REPEAT, WE HAVE A CAR ON THE TRACK! It's Sebastien Bourdais in his Toro Rosso!

  20. 32' No Raikkonen or Massa so far and there's no sign of any car coming out in the near future... apologies for this. It really is boring.

  21. 30' Still no action in Istanbul...

  22. 20' Absolutely nothing happening out there on the Istanbul track at the moment... you're not missing anything at all. The race organisers are going to come in for a bit of stick for not cleaning the track yesterday or even last night....

  23. 14' Everyone is waiting in the pits to save their tyres... and that late track cleaner is getting the blame.

  24. 12' Barichello is the only man out at the moment... and we could be in for a little period of inactivity now.

  25. 10' That dampness down at turn 3 is proving to be a concern to most drivers out there... and many of them are returning to the pit lane to wait for the track to dry out.

  26. 4' Drivers will need to be careful about that one!

  27. 3' The track cleaner has been out but it has left a huge damp patch right down the middle of the track on turn 3.

  28. 2' Fisichella is also out now... amongst others.

  29. 1' Robert Kubica out on the track first!
