14:45 - Parra took the honours at the Garibaldi sprint with 43km remaining. Liquigas lead the peloton who trail by 2:40.
14:30 - The speed for the fourth hour was 41.6kmh. 42.4kmh was the third hour. The pace has obviously dropped after the rapid start.
14:15 - It's a hot day for the riders with the temperatures in the low 30s.

11:30 - Finally after a host of attacks, a group of six has formed in the lead. The persistent Baliani is there along with Hubert Dupont (AG2r), Alberto Losada (Caisse d'Epargne), Ivan Parra (Cofidis), George Hincapie (Discovery) and Mauricio Ardila (Rabobank). They have a lead of 1:15 after 77km.
11:15 - After 65km, Baliani and Belotti have been joined by five other riders. Wegelius has slipped back into the bunch.
11:00 - Francesco Bellotti (Crédit Agricole) has bridged the gap to the leaders.
10:55 - British rider Charly Wegelius has launched an attack after 54km along with Fortunato Baliani (Panaria).

10:30 - But Bouygues team-mate Yohann Gene is the latest rider to abandon the race.

10:00 - There are two further mountains today. After 144km we reach the summit of the Passo del Biscia - a 16.3km second category ascent. And 31km from the end the riders begin the the third category ascent of Campi which is a 4.3km long climb.

09:30 - Today's 10th stage is sure to test the riders as it is raced over 250km from Camaiore to Notre-Dame de la Garde climaxing with an 8.8km climb to the finish at an average gradient of 8%. (All times BST).
