Seattle Mariners star Raul Ibanez is one of of baseball's nice guys. He was once voted second most agreeable Major League player in the country, was in the 2009 All-Star team and has had a long career that only really took off once he hit 30. He probably also runs a care home for orphaned kittens.
And at the age of 41, he's still more than capable of shining on the park, with 24 home runs to his name so far this season.
But this fine left-fielder and designated hitter is now in danger of being remembered for this play, which is being called "the worst throw in Major League history".
After showing some nifty footwork to pick up the ball, Ibanez lets fly with a throw so bad that it can only be described as a travesty, which saw him fling the ball directly into the ground as if he were a two-year-old playing catch for the first time in his life.
The look of disgust on his face says it all, and you can only imagine the kind of ribbing he got in the dressing room afterwards.
