Postponement costs Capello hotel wedding suite

Amidst all this talk in football of managers having 'honeymoon periods', spare a thought for former England boss Fabio Capello.

When Northern Ireland’s World Cup qualification home tie against Capello’s Russia was postponed 24 hours until Saturday afternoon, it left the visiting camp in somewhat of an accommodation pickle.

They had booked in at Belfast’s four-star Stormont Hotel, with coach Capello allocated the luxurious newlyweds' suite.

And amending the bookings to Saturday from Friday isn't quite that simple, with a wedding party reportedly booked in.

Though the hotel refused to comment, it is believed that management staff are frantically looking for a way to keep both the happy couple and the Russia squad happy.

The footballers are due to head over to London after their brief stop-off, where they will take on Brazil in a friendly at Chelsea's Stamford Bridge on Monday.
