    Heaslip captaincy switch backfires

    With Ireland's Six Nations Championship bid in virtual tatters after back-to-back defeats, Declan Kidney's decision to name Jamie Heaslip as permanent captain is a call which has backfired.

    It was a surprise decision with 33-year-old Brian O'Driscoll expected to assume his captaincy responsibilities after missing the autumn internationals due to an injury.
