We are asking all of our experts to give us their picks of 2012. Here Jan Molby reviews the year in football.
Best Match
Arsenal 5-2 Spurs, in February. The Gunners were having a difficult season and when Spurs raced into a two-goal lead it was something of a surprise when Arsenal came back to win 5-2 in yet another classic North London derby.
Best Moment
Sergio Aguero scoring against QPR. Surely the match itself will go down as one of the most dramatic Premier League games ever but who could have predicted the most astonishing piece of football theatre when Edin Dzeko and Aguero stole the title in added on time.
Funniest Moment
Joey Barton's Franglais. It was absolutely hilarious. I know some people have said he is putting it on - but he wasn't. I know how you can get sucked into talking like that and it obviously happened to Steve McClaren too. That was absolutely hilarious.
Best Player
Robin van Persie. What a super 2012 RVP has had for both Arsenal and his new club Manchester United. Last season his goals took Arsenal into the Champions League against all the odds and already this season it looks like his goals might be a big factor in United trying to reclaim the Premier League title.
Biggest Surprise
Michu. He already looks like the signing of the season and he has added some real elegance to the Swansea side. He isn't even an out-and-out striker and he has 13 goals. It just goes to prove that while the price of British players has gone through the roof, there is value to be had in Europe.
Worst Moment
Fabrice Muamba's collapse. It is one of the worst things you can possibly see at a football ground, a young man fighting for his life. He was dead for over an hour but his heart finally found a beat and thankfully we had a happy ending.
Biggest Disappointment
QPR: 18 Premier League games and one win tells you everything you need to know. I am sure Harry will help them in the New Year and the second half of the season but I think their place in the bottom three is cemented.
Unsung Hero
Robert Huth. People often look to Ryan Shawcross but I think Huth embodies everything that Stoke is about. He has that tough man image and he typifies what they are about.
Who to look out for in 2013
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. I think the time has come and he has been in and around the first team for long enough now. I think he is ready, he can play anywhere across the midfield and he has a football brain. He has explosive power and has a bit of x-factor.
