Welcome to the Overreaction Theatre: Special England Edition, where we look at the funny, predictable and downright silly things people say on Twitter during big matches.
So England played expansive football under pressure, and secured a classy victory 4-1 win over Montenegro. An entire nation must have rejoiced at the result, right? Well... no, because some people are never happy:
Flattering score for England. Huffed and puffed against a rubbish Montenegro side minus their best player

Oh and England still look crap. Dont let the score line fool you. We'll be lucky to get out the group stage with this team.

Watching England vs Montenegro no ideas no skill no nothing embarassing. — Graham Sutcliffe (@1956game) October 11, 2013
One of the things you can also be sure of on Twitter is that if there is an obvious joke to be made then far too many people will make it. Following that you will get loads more people complaining about the joke being made ad nauseam. Which is worse? We're not sure.
There was only going to be one result when Montenegro scored an own-goal on the same week Jack Wilshere said the English team should stay English.
Wilshere must be really mad about that own goal by Montenegro. How dare a non-Englishman score for England.

Everybody is saying England now need to beat Poland to qualify but that's only if Ukraine manage to beat San Marino. Could Roy Hodgson get away with one, Mike Bassett style?
I reckon there'll be a Mike Bassett moment on Tuesday. England will lose to Poland. But San Marino will beat Ukr, so Eng will get to Brazil!

And remember, Bassett led England to an ultimately-respectable World Cup run. And since Bassett's side were an absolute shambles when they did so, why can't the real England also cause a shock or two?
If Chelsea can fluke a champions league, especially playing shit football....why can't England win the World Cup?? #GotToInItToWinIt

But if you fail England, also remember: Scotland are watching and waiting!
A result just to start building confidence before the WC for England. All the better for us scots when they get humped in brazil!! — Brian Buchanan (@RealBBuchanan) October 11, 2013
