Luis Suarez suffered the humiliation of seeing his pre-match handshake snubbed by a young girl.
Liverpool star Suarez, who infamously refused to shake Patrice Evra's hand last year after he was punished for racially abusing the Manchester United left-back, was lined up with team-mates ahead of the Premier League match at Tottenham.
As is customary, the child mascots are introduced to visiting players by the home team, with the youngsters also shaking the away side's hands.
But, as Paulinho led a young girl to Suarez, the striker saw his paw ignored by the child, who instead lifted thumb to nose in a classic 'ner ner ner ner ner' gesture.
However, the girl's antics failed to put the Uruguayan off his game. Suarez scored twice to increase his season's tally to 17 - more than the entire Tottenham team - as Liverpool ran out emphatic 5-0 winners at White Hart Lane.
But, while Suarez had the last laugh, the girl in question will still be hailed as a comedy hero by fans of all persuasions.
