The International Hockey Federation has readmits Kenya to play in the Olympic women's hockey qualifying tournament in Azerbaijan after the team had initially pulled out.

Kenya qualified to play in the World round after finishing second in the African qualifiers in Nairobi last September but their participation in Baku later this month was in doubt after the Kenya Hockey Union withdrew the team citing financial difficulties.

The Kenya Olympic Committee (NOC) has stepped in to rescue the trip by accepting to foot the air tickets and accommodation for the players in Azerbaijan. The six-team competition will be held in Baku from April 12th-20th.

"We were expecting the government to finance the team," said NOC acting secretary F.K. Paul.

"But since there has been no allocation of funds, NOC, through the Olympic Solidarity has offered to pay for the tickets and accomodation. The rest of the expenses will be met by the federation."

Kenya will open their campaign against Ukraine on April 12th.
