World Cup-winning South Africa coach Jake White is set to step down after declining to re-apply for his job.
His contract ends at the end of the year and the South African Rugby Union confirmed that their four-man shortlist does not include the man who took over in 2003 and turned a sinking ship into World Champions.
"Jake White did not apply for the position and he was therefore not considered," SARU admitted.
The Union refused to name the four candidates, saying that they would only do so once the individals were informed.
South Africa beat 2003 champions England 15-6 in Paris on October 20th for their first World Cup win since 1995, when White was also on the coaching staff.
