Rams boss Paul Jewell confirmed his interest in signing the centre-back, but with The Latics stalling over a deal, he is now ready to switch his attention to West Brom's Martin Albrechtsen.

Jewell told the Derby Evening Telegraph: "I did ask Wigan about his (Bramble's) availability but I am not sure if Paul Scharner is going to stay at Wigan so they would not do a deal and it was no good me hanging around for something that might happen."
