Duddy's Progress Continues

Sun 29 Jun, 01:09 PM

Undefeated middleweight contender John Duddy took a stride forward on the path to a world title shot last night with a points victory over American Charles Howe in Boston.

The Derry Destroyer took his record to 25 wins and no losses in front of a partisan crowd at The Castle in Boston.

The 29-year-old was on top throughout the contest and Howe had no answer to his damaging combinations behind an effective left jab.

He said afterwards: "I used my jab with authority and slowly but surely broke him down.

"That man has some chin. I caught him with beautiful body and head shots and he took them well but I thoroughly enjoyed the 10 rounds."
