Chaz Davies has been offered a full-time testing role with Ducati's Moto GP team for next season, following his impressive run at the US Grand Prix.

The 20-year-old Briton, who looked to have waved goodbye to Grand Prix racing at the end of last season, has launched himself back into contention following his Laguna Seca run and a test with d'Antin Ducati at Mugello two weeks ago.

And the Italian manufacturer, who are set to clinch their maiden manufacturers' world title this year, have now offered him the role which was rejected by Carlos Checa earlier this month.

"The role of Ducati/Bridgestone official test rider is a definite opportunity that needs serious consideration," Davies said.

As far as this year is concerned, Davies looks set to contest the final three races of the season with the d'Antin Ducati, following Alex Hofmann's sacking, but, after an arm infection kept him out of the Japanese Grand Prix, must wait to be confirmed in the role.

"Yeah, I was supposed to do the last round of MotoGP at Motegi but felt that, due to the arm infection, I still wasn't up to shape to take the strains that a MotoGP weekend puts on the body.

"I figured that there was more chance of me doing myself down and decided it would be better to get myself fully recovered.

"Riding in the last three GPs of this year is still a possibility. When Livio Suppo from Ducati and Luis d'Antin return from Japan I will be speaking to them to hopefully find out what the situation is."

Davies also said that should he not take the Ducati test role for 2008, he will return to the USA, probably dovetailing campaigns in Superbike and Supersport on a Celtic Honda.
