Premier League - Ronaldo expected at training

Eurosport - Sat, 28 Jun 13:26:00 2008

Rio Ferdinand expects Cristiano Ronaldo will report for training with Manchester United, but is in the dark over his team-mate's plans.

FOOTBALL: Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand and winger Cristiano Ronaldo - 0

Ronaldo remains the subject of intense speculation linking him with Real Madrid.

The Portugal winger was the star of United's Premier League and Champions League-winning campaign last season and defender Ferdinand does not want him to leave.

The England international told Sky Sports News: "We'd love him to be with us next season. Whatever happens is going to happen.

"We're like the fans, we pick up the papers and read what is going on. We know as much as anyone else.

"We will be going to pre-season and I am sure Ronaldo will be there and we will be going with the aim of working hard together and starting off a good new season."

  2. We've lost influential players before (Cantona, Keane, Beckham, Van Nistelrooy) and had some lean seasons after their departure, but the Fergie/Queiroz management team has had the brains and influence to shore up the team, strengthen the squad and still deliver the trophies, even if it took a couple of seasons. We may win one trophy without CR next season as we have a great squad and two great coaches.

I very much doubt we will win more than one trophy while the team adjusts to his absence. I would be very worried if Queiroz decides to leave as well - he has worked wonders with our defence, and his absence was a massive blow when he went to Madrid - we shipped goals like water and won one trophy in three seasons while Arsenal and Chelsea ran riot.

All i would say is - where are those 42 goals going to come from next season? Not even Ronaldo will be able to deliver like that again, even if he stays, cos his heart is no longer firmly with the club. We will need someone pretty big and intimidating up front to fill Ronaldo's boots and provide the United fear factor next season - without that I reckon even Hull will fancy their chances!

  3. No one player is bigger than Man United. His departure will have minimal effect , Anderson, Nani, Owen, Tevez and the rest are all great players who can win any trophy without the likes of Ronaldo. Whether he goes or he stays next season we are going for the TREBLE!!!!!!!

  4. Just let him go! Man UTD will be better without that so called star player.. next season he will be nothing!

  5. What Christiano does not understand is that Ferguson and the whole of Man Utd have developed him into what he is now.. Real will not have the time or energy for that and they don't know what teamwork is really all about - they just want a collection of INDIVIDUAL stars - like Chelsea do - and that doesn't win you trophies. If he doesn't want to stay let him go and let's look forward to Nani, Anderson and the rest coming thru to be the best, as only Man Utd know how...

  6. Guys i think that Mancheste United will be great without him.I'm a ManUtd fan so i think that if C.Ronaldo leaves united is going to be even more better and who knows?Maybe Nani will be the new C.R ,or maybe Anderson is going to be the imba player for M.U.I really like to see Ronaldo in Real, but United is a way better club than Real Madrid,i mean in player quality. So Ronaldo go if you want , but belive me Manchester United will rule without, maybe
they defend all trophies and u will just going to watch your greatest mistake what you made in your life.

P.S MANCHESTER UNITED IS THA BEST!!! :P

  7. If he wants to go let him as long as we get the right price!!
Life goes on at ManU and when a player leaves we continue to win.
    Ince, Robson, Cantona,Keane, Beckham, Nistelroy.
All world class and missed in the short term but no one player
    is bigger than Man U.

  12. jessym about english thugs well if we are thugs we are good ones , anyway ron should do as his contract says , he was happy to sign it last year and happy with the money now his ego has become to big and thats a mistake in football yes he scored goals for man u , but that might be his best season for scoring ? as in football its harder every year to beat the last season so he would be better to go to the spanish team for got the name he he , thats how much i think of his choice and you got5 a attitude problem did an english man leave you or a woman ? but talk sense ok the english premier is the most watched football in the world thats why all those players want to come here , and as far as i am concerned he can go as man u is a club not needing his antics of a spoilt kid ,

I live in Japan yes its not as good football but atleast anything can happen. urawa reds won one year and went down the next bring that back to england, ;-) I am begining to think about stopping watching football now.

  17. Ronaldo in my opinion can do whaever he likes. He´s achieved the ultimate goal of wining the Champions League. Now it´s time to move on and prove he can do with a different club where he can feel wanted loved and like at home. Please give him a break you selfish Man United baztardz. What more d'you want. He´s brought you out glory winning the Premier League and the European Champions, now let him go happy. You English are double standards in all sports. Remember Ronaldo's wink and how you treated him afterwards. The boy has done more than expected and redeemed himself beyond doubt and you instead unappreciative and greedy can't live without him. Go and suck somebody else blood you lotta english thugs. Man United fans get over this and don't be so full of shhite. Life goes on.
