Second row forward Carlo Del Fava has been drafted back into Italy's World Cup squad after replacement Fabio Staibano pulled out.

The 26-year-old was replaced by Staibano because of his own injury concerns earlier this month, but has now been given another chance in the 30-man squad after Staibano was deemed unfit.

Gonzalo Canale has been cleared to stay with the squad after injuring his shoulder in Friday's 23-20 defeat by Ireland in their final World Cup warm-up while flanker Robert Barbieri suffered a right hip problem and his progress will be assessed in the coming days.

Italy start their Pool C campaign against New Zealand on September 8th in Marseille.
