Swansea defender Garry Monk has been offered a new deal at the Liberty Stadium after his starring role in their title-winning season.Monk was a key figure as the Swans won promotion to the Championship this season and was rewarded with a place in the League One PFA Team of the Year as well as picking up the club's Player of the Year award.

The 29-year-old is now considering a new offer which would extend his stay at the club past his current 12-month contract.

Chairman Huw Jenkins told the Evening Post: "We have offered Garry improved terms and we are waiting to hear from him. We fully expect him to take up the offer.

"We feel Garry was a major part of our achievement in winning League One and when you take into account the great season he has had as captain he deserves this deal."
