Top seed David Ferrer reached his first career final on grass in 's-Hertogenbosch by defeating Argentine Juan Martin Del Potro 7-6 6-1.
After a tight first set -- in which the French Open quarter-finalist saved two break points to take on a tie-break -- Del Potro's resistance was broken.
"My first final on grass, it's unbelievable," Ferrer said, after wrapping up a one-sided second set.
"It's important to play well before Wimbledon, for the confidence."
World number five Ferrer, a winner in Valencia and runner-up in Barcelona earlier this year, goes into Saturday's final against France's Marc Gicquel without dropping a set all week.
Gicquel, 31, defeated seventh seed Guillermo Canas of Argentinia 3-6 6-0 6-4 and is aiming to win his first ATP title.
In the women's event, Russia's Dinara Safina once again got the better of compatriot and top seed Elena Dementieva with an easy 6-3 6-2 victory.
Safina, who won the pair's two encounters this year in the German Open final and French Open quarter-finals, now faces world number 85 Tamarine Tanasugarn of Thailand who disposed of Ukraine's Alona Bondarenko 6-2 6-4.
"Today I really played one of my best matches," world number nine Safina said. "Elena, she is really a tough opponent. It's the third tournament in a row that we play each other. I just went on court and was very focused on what I had to do."

Last I checked we were all humans and humans are known to make mistakes. Give the writer a break, and maybe it wasn't even him who did it. Do you haters get this upset about the fact that we have raped this planet of her oil (which supports its infrastructure and now we are more and more vulnerable to major earthquakes and sinkholes) or that China has polluted the world's air so much that the athlete's may not be able to perform as before, or that the idiotic idea of growing crops for fuel has caused the price of food to be unaffordable for many and the UN could no longer provide free meals to kids in Cambodia (as their only meal of the day). Seriously, you guys need to get angry OVER REAL ISSUES THAT ARE THREATENING OUR EXISTENCE!!!!!
write your news with a brain (if you have) WTA?????? AND FERER? OH COME ON
ATP WITH FERER sounds great
It should have been listed under ATP? If Ferrer it's not a women, I don't think Safina is a man either.
Err... why is this listed under the WTA tour? I didn't know Ferrer was a woman!
