Toseland: It's all coming off

Eurosport - Thu, 19 Jun 20:35:00 2008

James Toseland tells Eurosport his underwear could be sailing into the crowd if he achieves a podium in the British GP at Donington Park.

MOTORCYCLING - James Toseland, Yamaha Tech 3 - 0

If I win at Donington this weekend, not only will the leathers be going into the crowd - as they did at Brands Hatch in the Superbikes last year - but the pants and socks will be going in as well!

As long as I've got the bike to cover me up I'll be all right! Like when I did that photo shoot in Cosmopolitan for charity - but I might regret that one when I look back in a few years.

It is the biggest race of my career to date, but the nice thing is I've had really good experience in the past of winning at home: the double at Brands, the win at Silverstone a few years ago, the win at Donington last year.

It doesn't get any better than winning at home.

In MotoGP you've only got one shot at winning a home GP, but it's come at a good time with the bike.

I've been really pleased with the development from last year. We've got a competitive package and I'm confident we can go further this season.

When you're used to winning though, seventh doesn't mean anything. I know what it feels like to be on the podium and I'm desperate to get up there again. But it's a learning process.

Ticket sales are up, coverage is up and that tells me a lot a British fans are confident of a British guy getting on the podium this weekend.

I went in a bit naive this year doing these new tracks after nine years doing the Superbikes and Supersport. It'll be nice to go to a track that I know very well.

There was a lot of adapting when I came into MotoGP. The style of riding is completely different.

Following Valentino Rossi in that first race in Qatar, watching his [racing] lines because they are different [to those in Superbikes] I was learning all the time, picking things up.

Last week I was flying a Red Arrow-like jet through the Austrian mountains thanks to Mr Red Bull, who has his own hangar at Salzburg airport.

That wasn't bad, was it? It's nice to take advantage of these experiences while I can.

  7. J.T. Will give it his best shot thats for sure. But a certain texan namely Colin Edwards also goes well at Donnington. I can confidently predict yamaha taking three places of the first six finishers, with the likes of Dani, Casey,& Rossi's team mate Lorenzo fighting for the right to step up onto the podium with Vale. Should James get a good start he will be in with a great chance to give the fans want they have come to see. Good Luck to all the Brits!

  12. It would be great if toseland could win but i think rossi and pedrosa will have a lot to say about that. Still a podium finish would put his confidence sky high. Lots of good things to come from toseland
