Premier League - Mourinho: I want Lampard and Drogba

Internazionale coach Jose Mourinho has admitted he would love to bring Chelsea pair Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba to the Giuseppe Meazza.

It is the first time Mourinho has spoken about his transfer plans and his comments come amid reports that Lampard's talks over a new Chelsea contract have hit a snag over the duration of the new deal.

Lampard, who turns 30 on Friday, wants to stay at Stamford Bridge but is demanding a four-year extension to his current contract. The club are reportedly only prepared to offer him half that.

The England midfielder will have talks with Luiz Felipe Scolari when the new Blues boss begins work with the English club on July 1.

But it is now clear Mourinho is ready to offer one of his favourite players a way out of the club with a £10million bid.

Mourinho, who is also keen to sign Barcelona's Deco - who he managed at Porto and who is also a target for Chelsea - said: "I am not nostalgic but I really like those three players, they helped me win some great titles.

"I cannot forget Deco, Lampard and Drogba. These are players who I could never say no to. I would love to work with them again in the future, but I am not too obsessed with this idea. I don't know which of these three will leave their clubs but we will see."

Mourinho's comments come just days after Inter president Massimo Moratti revealed Lampard was on his club's target list.

Mourinho may also steal Deco from beneath Chelsea's noses after the London club's interest in the player stalled over the £15million asking price.

Barcelona vice-president Marc Ingla insists the Catalan giants have yet to receive a bid for Deco from the Blues.

"We can't guarantee his career will continue at Chelsea because we are yet to receive an offer from this club," Ingla said.

  1. Jose is that kind of Coach; but will he have the support of the club owners and players for such move? Because this goes beyond objectivity now, there's a bit of sentiment he's putting up here.

    If he should bid for these two guys though, and the 2 show signs of taking up the offer I trust Abramovich to let them go..... he doesn't believe some player is indispensable!

    So it's more a game of wits at this point!

    However, scolari has got to work hard in ensuring Lampard stays, because English Fans will never forgive him if he allows their own leave the premiership.

  2. i feel the "special one" is taking revenge of the rude and unceremonius way he was sacked. but i think the billionaire is very confused, he is so thirsty for glory but it is unfortunate money don't buy trophies. Mourinho was one of the best ever coach with world class pedigree that has ever managed the stamford bridge club. Avram Grant took chelsea to final amidst critics when he took over but was able shut the blabbing critics by reaching the final, yet he was made the "fired one" what else does the billionaire want. he keep buying stars and destroys their form most star players that came to stamford bridge with high profile form lost it for example Mutu, Shevy, wright philips, and so many of them. my question is after spending all this money what is wrong with blues. thanks to Mourinho and grant who gave the likes of ballack chance to rediscover their form again. with the way things are going in stamford bridge i dont think chelsea will win anything again. a club seeking glory needs stability but in the case of chelsea they keep hiring and firing. the billionaire should think management like not business like, you dont plant a corn and expect it to grow same day. am a die hard chelsea fan but the billionaire is making me lose my cool.

If either Deco or Lampard go to Inter,they would be a real strong team considering the Squad they already have..Drogba would love football in Italy as he can be touched and he'l fall for a freekick..He will succeed there..Not so sure about Lampard though.He is meant for the english game and would struggle in Italy

  10. If Scolari doesn't re new Frank Lampard's contract for 4 years and Frank Leaves then Scolari will be the most hated man in London. Lampard has been the heart and soul of the club for as long as he has been there. As for Drogba i believe he is a great player but i also believe he inconsistant. The main problem with Chelsea FC is the @#$% owner. He buys every good player and expects them all to play and instead just makes them worse, for example: Nickolas Anelka, he was amazing at Bolton but when he came to Chelsea there was already like 5 forwards. Start using some @#$% common sense with your budget you stupid piece of @#$%. You already screwed up by letting Jose Mourinho.
